RK/music Gets Gold "Star" for Court TV
New York, NY: RK/music gives the "Star" treatment; accompanies Star Jones in her new, daytime talk show
airing on Court TV.
Star Jones has a brand new TV show, and in her words, she's "holding nothing back!" Court TV tapped Manhattan
based RK/music to create a complete music package consisting of show opens, beds, and bumps for the live talk
show that hit the airwaves mid-August. RK/music had to invent a theme for the controversial host's bold
re-entrance back into the limelight, after her departure from "The View" last summer. The catchy blend of pop
and gospel beats create a smart, hip, and upbeat feel for the show. Exciting, yet serious, it's not too newsy
or too controversial, but expresses the nature of Star Jones' personality. RK/music also produced a music
package for the show launch package, which aired in early August.
"Star was great to work with" says Rob Kahn, owner and Creative Director of RK/music. "She was a very big
part of the process, and she really knew what kind of sound she was looking for. It's her show, so the music
has to express her personality."
RK/music's partner company, Mixology Post, produced all the audio post production, for the launch package as
well. With over 40 spots including the tags, it was a huge amount of work, and getting it all out the door
in time was a challenge. Zona Design created the design and logo for the show and launch packaging.
About RK/music: RK/music was founded in 1986 as a music production company with its sole purpose to create
original music for television and radio. It has since expanded into a powerhouse for original music and sound
design specializing in brand sonification, show openings, and promos. Client list includes Discovery Channel,
Travel Channel, Fuel TV, BBC America, Court TV, HBO, Starz, American Express, Biography Channel, and BMW.
It has a partner company, Mixology Post, which focuses on audio-post production and VO recording.
Founder/Creative Director is Rob Kahn, and Chief Engineer is Jeremy Borer. Location is 54 W. 21st St.,

Dominion Post Edits 50-Year History of USMA Class of '58
Vienna, VA: Fifty years of military history was condensed down to about one hour for a documentary on
the United States Military Academy Class of 1958. Several hundred photos and hours of video were sent in by

classmates for inclusion in the project. All this unique source material was combined to tell the story of how
the Class of '58 went on to become officers and generals, CEOs and industry leaders since graduating 50 years
ago.
The Avid Media Composer was used to do the editing for the project. Extensive use of the photo pan and scan
capability brought the still images to life. Care was taken to restore some of the original pictures back to
the quality needed for modern video presentation. The final product is a DVD to be shown at the 50th Reunion
gathering and given to each classmate and widows. Dominion Post provided all the editorial and finishing of
the product.
"We got an excellent documentary on the Class, made even better by Bill's understanding of the Army combined
with his incredible ability to tell our story using his editing skills," said Gen. (US Army-Ret). "This was
a great project for me to work on," says Bill Parks, Jr. "I am proud to be part of the golden reunion for
such an outstanding group of men," he added.
The video will go in the archives at West Point as a gift to the legacy of the Class of 1958. The memories
and insights of this group of leaders will be available to the next generation of cadets as they graduate and
face a future with new and different challenges.

Patriot Day Basilica Concert
Washington, DC: September 11 is now also designated as Patriot Day. In remembrance, the VA-National
Medical Musical Group (VANMMG) inaugurated a new a concert at the Basilica of the National Shrine of the
Immaculate Conception at Catholic University,
The orchestra is composed of one hundred musicians and a two hundred person chorus, made up of doctors, nurses,
and staff members at VA hospitals from around the country. VA NMMG asked Creative Video of Washington to video
tape their concert. Creative Video has taped other concerts for the Group in years past at different venues, but
Basilica was the most challenging.
The scope of the project was to capture the 120 minute concert with five standard definition cameras. The venue
presented many challenges, not the least of which was its size. From the front door to the back of the building
was over 250 feet. Fortunately, the Basilica had been pre-wired for Triax cameras. Creative Video's challenge
was to find a SD Triax truck that would fit into the group's limited budget. The solution was to adapt CVW's
cargo truck and turn it into a mobile unit. Peter Roof, Creative's Special Projects Manager, took on the
challenge and built a wall within the truck that accommodated two window air conditioners and a door to create
a controlled environment for the switch.
The next challenge was fitting all the equipment needed inside the truck. The switcher was based around CVW's
Broadcast Pix Slate 2100 digital switcher. The Triax base stations output SDI, a format native to the Broadcast
Pix. ISO recording of all five cameras and the switched program was done on Betacam SP. The long throws
required long lenses, the longest of which was a Super 70 lens for the camera nearly 200 feet from the choir.
Two cameras 90 feet from the stage used 36x lenses to get close-ups. To get the spectacular flying shots,
Creative brought in Doug Drew of Birds Eye View and his 24-foot Jimmy Jib. Equipped with a wide-angle lens
and located to the side of the front of the stage area, it flew over the audience and orchestra capturing truly
moving images. Another camera was located in the back of the orchestra and in front of the choir where Roof
was able to get dynamic on-air trucking shots because of the smooth marble floor. Cameras were operated by
Cameron Bartlett, Eric Bugash, Doug Drew, Peter Josendale, and Peter Roof. The show was tech directed by Matt
Eidemiller and engineered by Sean Hovan.
Audio from the concert was recorded by Maryland Sound and will be sweetened before the multi-track recording
is married to the show's video master. Postproduction will be done on Creative Video's Media 100 HD and
released to the VA National Medical Musical Group on DVD. Visit the website at
www.creativevideo.com.

Double R Productions Remembers Hurricane Katrina
Washington, DC: When the Red Cross approached Double R Productions about making a video for the two
year anniversary of Hurricane Katrina, the Double R staff was more than up to the challenge. They were honored.

Megan Kimball looking over some footage for the project |

Double R Productions production assistant, Megan Kimball worked closely with the Red Cross staff screening hours
of footage that the Red Cross accumulated after several months of working in the destroyed regions of Louisiana,
Mississippi and Texas. The four- minute video depicts the journey from heart-breaking destruction to the
compassionate recovery efforts of the Red Cross and community members. The video also highlights the Red Cross's
Youth Enrichment Activities Program (YEAP), which provides children displaced by the hurricane with activities
such as swimming and dance.
"Due to the large amount of footage the Red Cross gave us, the hardest part was deciding which pieces reflected
both the significance of this event and the strength of the survivors" states Rosemary Reed, Double R Productions
President.
Kimball coordinated with the Red Cross staff and edited the video under the watchful eyes of Double R
Productions Senior Editor Michael Gionis. The video was made specifically for the Red Cross's Hurricane

Lewisburg, PA: When Bucknell University, ranked one of the top ten liberal arts colleges in the U.S. by

companies all over the east coast. Not wanting the "typical" video, they turned to the award winning services
of Lost World Media located in Frederick, Maryland.
Most college marketing videos plainly state the statistics, faculty, and environment of the college. Steve
Gibson, producer and director at Lost World Media, decided to take a different approach by using actual students
and faculty to tell a story that, not only included these critical facts, but also kept the audience entertained.
With the assistance of a writing team, headed by Joel DiGiacomo, as well as a full professional production crew,
the entire shoot was completed in about six days. With the use of a DVX100A camera with prime lenses, the 16:9
format project captured beautiful, sweeping shots of the campus, faculty and students. The end result turned
out to be a stunning new medium in college marketing that is unlike anything that has been done before.
The project, later titled "Bucknell - The Movie", was premiered at the 2007 Bucknell Alumni Reunion Weekend
and was welcomed with rave reviews. "I doubt Bucknell has ever looked better..." says Pete Mackey, Chief
Communications Officer at Bucknell University. He goes on to say, "There are moments in this film that rise
to the level of poetry; they are such wonderful combinations of scene, lighting and motion." Due its enormous
success, "Bucknell - The Movie" has since been used in other alumni events, admissions presentations and several
other various Bucknell events.
You can view a clip from "Bucknell - The Movie" by visiting,

editors Christo Harris, Michael Koepenick and Michael Curtis to create Sneak Peeks for The Closer, Saving
Grace, The Bill Engvall Show, My Boys, Heartland, and The Company. In a nutshell, Sneak Peeks are 4 minute
excerpts of next week's shows that fans can check out on the web and be "in the know" as to what the upcoming
shows will be about. They are also proving to be hot new ways for advertisers to reach target audiences who
can often connect directly with products and services with the click of a button.
Due to the success of the Sneak Peeks, Vice President of Digital Content TNT/tbs Matt Bunting also asked the
team to create a series of "Bitcoms", which are essentially four and a half minute synopses of sitcoms or
"itty bitty sitcoms" as Belinda likes to call them. She and the Guillotine crew cut Bitcoms for Tyler Perry's
House of Payne, The Bill Engvall Show, and The Office.
 |

Kyra Sedgwick, star of TNT's series "The Closer" |
"The challenge of the Sneak Peeks is to give fans an idea of what the upcoming episode will be about without
giving away any crucial clues," says Koepenick. "The tricky part about the Bitcoms is trying to keep them
funny despite the fact that the plot points are often the driest parts of the comedies". Check out the

Crash & Sue's Sue Lakso Lends Her Color Correction Expertise to Some Desperate Housewives in Trio Of Breyer's Spots
Minneapolis, MN: The housewives from the hit TV series may be desperate, but those appearing in a trio
of comic Breyer's spots from Campbell Mithun/Minneapolis, color corrected by Sue Lakso of Crash & Sue's, take
desperation to a new level. While the campaign plays off the themes of guilt, desire and appetite, it gives
a nod to the women's permissive indulgence in Breyer's low-fat double churn ice cream.
Lakso, working in a C-Reality suite with da Vinci 2K Plus color corrector, was challenged to give a different
look to each of the three 30-second spots directed by Hungry Man's David Gray and cut by Fischer Edit's Randy
Kramer. All of the humorous scenarios find women pursuing the object of their desire: an old-fashioned wooden
ice cream churn portrayed by a costumed actor whose only visible human feature was his legs.
For "Pool,' Lakso was tasked with balancing the sunlight as it changed from scene to scene while two women
basking by a pool, ogle the churn, which plays the part of the pool boy. She kept the visuals high key with
rich colors using Power Windows to bring out shadow detail.
Lakso crafted a different mood for "Office", where a man-hungry female executive eyes the churn during an evening
work session. The colorist kept everything low light, but finessed the nighttime palette and matched colors
scene to scene.
The third spot, "Bedroom", features a housewife's worst nightmare: being caught in bed by her husband with...a
bowl of ice cream. Sue Lakso maintained the flatter, saturated light in the bedroom scene but applied Power
Windows on the edges to bring out detail like the Breyer's logo on the churn, which attempts to conceal itself
from the irate spouse by hiding behind a lamp.
Crash & Sue's is an award-winning post-production house specializing in the seamless integration of CG, visual
FX, animation, color correction, creative editing, finishing and audio services. For further information

Celebrities, Film and Television Dominate Six Months at Buttons New York
New York, NY: During the last six months, Rich Macar and the team at Buttons Sound NY have produced
exciting and creatively inspiring projects from the worlds of film, television and advertising.
Macar, Buttons' owner and chief engineer, and his talented team have welcomed celebrities like Britney
Spears, who recorded voice-overs for her Midnight Fantasy Fragrance. Carmen Electra also graced the studios
to record voice-overs for an infomercial for Kioseki Hair Rollers. Kelsey Grammar visited the crew to record
dialogue for the new series Back to You in which he will star with Patricia Heaton.
Turning their attention to feature films, the team performed ADR of Danny Aiello for a film being release this
fall called Stiffs. Macar's team also worked on sound design and final 5.1 theatrical mix for Still Green,
starring Sarah Jones seen in the Fox hit, The Wedding Bells.' Buttons also did sound design for The Pack, a
docudrama starring Lucy Arnez inspired by real life stories and documented cases wherein secondhand smoke is
believed to be the cause of a loved ones death. Buttons also helped produce trailers for two wildly popular
hits, Shrek the Third and High School Musical 2, recording George DelHoyo.
From films to games inspired by films; Buttons performed dialogue and voice records for Midway Games version
of the hit film Happy Feet. The team is well-versed in the nuances of the penguin flipper-flapping film - they
performed ADR for the actual film, connected directly, to the producers in Australia.
In television, the team successfully delivered a full sound mix for 30 shows of TLC's exciting series, Cover
Shot, in which supermodel, Frederique, and her team transform everyday women into supermodels. Buttons also
mixed a 7-episode reality show from HGTV called Leader of the Pack, performing the sound design for the series
about a family selecting the family dog. Starting with eight dogs, the show follows the family as they whittle
down the pack, facing weekly challenges and comically heartbreaking eliminations. Look for the premiere this
fall.
Radio advertising production also required the team's expertise this year. Buttons' sound designers helped
two snowboarding friends on the slopes discover Hot Tamales Ice in a spot designed for the fiery treat. They
also designed sound for a spot featuring a blind taste test for Mike & Ike. Television advertisers came
calling, including ads for Pontiac, Mercury, Isuzu, Dodge, Lincoln, as well as another bank of famous Chuck

Fox Sports Net Taps Viewpoint Creative for Comprehensive Major League Baseball Branding Package
Boston, MA: On the heels of their successful work for Fox Sports Net's NBA coverage, the network has
again turned to Viewpoint Creative, the creative agency specializing in entertainment and lifestyle brands, to
create the comprehensive branding package for their coverage of Major League Baseball's 2007 season. The package
will air extensively in all 22 FSN's regions to promote specific games/match-ups throughout the season. In
addition, Viewpoint Creative is currently working the branding campaign for Fox Sports Net's upcoming NHL
coverage.
"Fox Sports likes ideas that are organically rooted, concepts that have some real element to it," said Michael
Middeleer, Viewpoint's Executive Creative Director. "They always challenge us to elevate their sport franchises
conceptually, without alienating the core viewership. To us the idea of a pitching machine seemed like a perfect
metaphor for the grit and determination embodied by the game."
The key component to the package is a :30 spot that opens with an exterior shot that captures the charged
atmosphere and excitement of an MLB stadium in the form of a souped-up batting cage. A shot of waving pennant
flags and game lights flashing take us into the cage where a gloved hand turns on the pitching machine. From
there, the camera zooms inside the greasy inner workings of the machine as its metal gears and chains come
alive. Gritty footage of top players in action is intercut with the mechanical forces inside the pitching
machine. Each wind-up of the pitching arm captures both the tension and anticipation of the game and the
showdown between pitcher and batter that is at the heart of baseball.
For Fox's Writer/Producer, Max Wanger, it was important that the overall environment and atmosphere look as
dynamic as possible. "Max wanted to make sure that the sky environment looked as incredible and real as the
machine itself," says David Shilale, Executive Producer for Viewpoint. "Many of the scenes were shot on green
screen or the sky was completely replaced. Park lights were also added later to give it an authentic 'ballpark'
feel."
Viewpoint Creative Director of Design, Joseph Kiely noted the challenge to create the heightened reality of a
baseball. "We wanted viewers to feel of the menace of the machine and the power of major league pitching," said
Kiely. "We also wanted to capture that feeling of pure baseball that mingles excitement, action and fun. In
the end, we achieved something that captures the excitement of the pitcher- batter duel while still relishing the
fun of the game."
Adds Middeleer, "Our relationship with Fox Sports Net is a good one. We understand who they are as a brand and
to their credit they've challenged us with great assignments that test us on a number of levels. It's a challenge
we love."
About Viewpoint Creative: With offices in Boston, MA and Los Angeles, CA, and 19 years experience, the
award-winning creative agency Viewpoint Creative has built a well-earned reputation for its ability to motivate
consumers to act with immersive brand experiences. With a commitment to strategic thinking across every
conceivable medium, the company has lent its considerable skills to such clients as ABC, Bose, Discovery, Fox
Sports, Gillette, HBO, HGTV, PBS, Mattel, Sci Fi Channel and the Wall Street Journal. For more information

Syndrome Directs Music Video for Swizz Beatz' New Single "Money In The Bank"
In August 07 hip-hop artist Swizz Beatz debuted the music video for his new single on BET's 106 & Park. "Money
in the Bank" is the second single from his debut solo album "One Man Band Man", and the video was created and
directed by Syndrome.
Drawing inspiration from 70's movie posters and blaxploitation films, Syndrome has created a visual that
coincides with the avant-garde nature of Swizz' unique style. In keeping with the effortlessly cool and
energetic tone of "Money in the Bank", the video is fun and humorous with a clean and polished look. The video
is primarily a performance piece that puts Swizz front and center, as the imagery of his rhymes are created
around him. Though the goal of the video is to showcase Swizz as the star, it is given a distinctive style with
unique effects and edits. It is sequenced to the beat to give it a rhythmic dance-like quality, while reoccurring
symmetrical layouts mimic the album's packaging. You can currently catch "Money in the Bank" in rotation on most
music video networks.
Up against the age-old challenges of little time and no budget, Syndrome captured everything digitally to save
on the cost of film, and turned this 100% green screen video around in 2 weeks. They used Maya for 3D and After
Effects to composite custom environments. The video was conceptualized by Syndrome, who also directed and created
all the graphics.
About Syndrome: Founded by three creative partners, Mars Sandoval, Micah Hancock, and James Larese, Syndrome is
a creative studio that specializes in unique design for multiple mediums. With the collaboration of broad and
creative talents, Syndrome brings their distinctive vision to all forms of media. For more information visit
